Farm Love for all seasons

SUMMER

Garden Weddings

THE MOOD:

Long days and warm nights are just part of summer’s infinite appeal. Moods are lighter, colours brighter and we’re definitely more inclined to celebrate good times under sunny skies – it’s no wonder wedding fever is high this time of the year! Embrace the profusion of fresh flowers available. Everything from gerberas and gladiolus and lavenders to lily, or bring the outside in with trees, herbs and succulents that can be replanted. Outdoor celebrations are huge and can either be relaxed or slick and sophisticated. Either way, fun is the aim of the day.

THE (FASHION) LOOK:

“For summer weddings we like to play with hemlines, which can be anywhere from ballerina and tea-length to just above the knee. These shorter lengths allow for ease of movement and are ideally suited to garden and outdoor farm venues as you don’t have to worry about moving a train. Stick with lightweight fabrics such as tulle, chiffon and organza so that the gown flows and you don’t sweat!

THE LOGISTICS:

Heat is a major consideration when marrying in summer weddings and it is vital that you provide adequate coverage for your guests when outside. Adequate ventilation in the chapel and reception venue is important for your guests’ comfort and to prevent flowers from wilting. Rain is another crucial factor, wind too. Always have a great Plan B. Choose your cake carefully too – you don’t want one that melts easily. With all the holidays, you might also end up paying premium rates for honeymoon.
